Kids Keep Busy with Summer Sports

This summer the level of sports activity has definitely increased. Presley and Canyon have both been involved with baseball and soccer. Canyon also participated in a week long hockey camp. Have included some fun pictures here. Finally, Mom and Dad celebrated our 11 year wedding anniversary. The kids were both at sleepovers so we spent the night along the St. Croix River, relaxing and hanging out on the boat.

Summer Solstice Party 2010

We hosted our first Summer Solstice party in 2009. On that first party night, one of our friends said "This is "your" annual party. And so this year we had our second annual Summer Solstice party. This year, we hosted about 80 friends, neighbors, and family for a night under the sun and the stars to celebrate the longest day of the year. This year we also hosted our first live band (sound man and all). The Unusual Suspects were a huge hit and elevated the celebration..... until the Eden Prairie police came by and politely asked us to stop the music (the neighboring communities could hear us). The party continued into the night and was a great celebration of the beginning of summer!

Auntie's Summer Visit 2010

Auntie came for her annual summer visit. During her trip, we visited Canyon's classroom to watch him read a poem that he had written. It was also a weekend full of sports (in the rain as usual for her visit). Both Canyon and Presley were excited to play catcher for their baseball and softball teams. Canyon did get hit with the ball in a precarious spot. So this is the weekend that he and his team learned that all little boys need protection, especially when playing catcher! Other weekend festivities included a nice lunch with Aunt Barbara to celebrate Auntie's birthday and lots of games and puzzles.

Frontenac State Park - Memorial Day Weekend

For the past several years, we try to go camping every Memorial Day. This year we went to Frontenac Park, which is along the Mississippi River at Lake Pepin, the widest point of the entire Mississippi River. We had a beautiful weekend and inspired our pals the Holjes to come with us. The kids had a blast playing baseball, soccer, and kick ball. We also had some great hikes, fun fishing, and nice bonfires.

Eden Prairie Devils

Canyon started playing "Travel" Soccer this year. He's having a great time. We also have a parent with a great camera. Here are some pictures from a recent game.
