Our day started early in the Smoky Mountains. We stayed overnight before our hike into the mountains and the beautiful Buckberry Lodge. Ron played a couple of songs on our balcony and then we enjoyed a great breakfast before heading into our hiking adventure.
Our adventure started with a 5.5 mile hike along the Alum Cave Trail to the top of Mt. Leconte where we would stay at the very rustic Leconte Lodge. Leconte Lodge has no electricity and no showers and the only way to get there is by hiking. The hike was worth it once we arrived to enjoy our wonderful view above the clouds. The kids did awesome and enjoyed the traverses where they hold on to cables. Once we made it to the top, we enjoyed a big meal and some fun card playing before settling down for the evening in the very, very pitch black.
