Cancer Diagnosis and Out of Town Visitors

On December 27th, Ron was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Cancer in his left tonsil and a left lymph node. We told family and friends in January and have been focused on the plan to fight this evil disease. As a result, I have been updating the Caring Bridge site versus our family blog for the last couple of months. However, we did continue to have family experiences and events that I want to capture and I finally have some time to update the blog. After Ron's diagnosis, we visited with several doctors to assess the best plan forward. One of those opinions was at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, which ultimately became the place Ron chose to be treated. I like this picture of Ron before our first visit because it shows how he wants to fight cancer with faith, courage, and enthusiasm.

After his diagnosis, we got several calls from friends and family wanting to see Ron. Our first visitor was brother/uncle Don. We also had a nice visit with Joe Day, who came to visit and also attended a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert with us. Nice visits before the surgery and treatment began.
