Australia - Day 4 - The Great Barrier Reef

On day 4, we took a trip to explore the outer reef of the Great Barrier Reef. The Reef is a maze of 3,000 reefs and 900 islands that extends for ~ 1,600 miles and one of the world's most spectacular attractions. We took a one hour boat ride out to one of the sections of the reef with Sunlover Reef cruises. The day is spent on a floating platform. Ron and Trisha started with scuba diving while the rest of our crew snorkeled. November to May is jelly fish season so we all had to don these blue stinger suits (our "smurf suits") to protect us from the jelly fish, particularly the deadly box jelly fish. It was an amazing day where we were able to see all types of beautiful coral, anenome fish, sea turtles, parrot fish, and much, much more. The water was so warm that you could snorkel for hours. The kids also enjoyed touching the sea cucumbers from the bottom of the sea. A really special day and an experience to remember!

Our evening was enjoyed relaxing in our room with a great view of the ocean, another nice family meal and some music on the porch.
